2012 Chinese New Year Dragon Boat Regatta

This will be the eighth year that Brisbane River Dragons have hosted the Chinese New Year Dragon Boat Regatta at South Bank in conjunction with South Bank Corporation. An exciting day that allows local businesses and community groups the chance to challenge each other. The event is located on the esplanade at South Bank Parklands and is a fun packed day for all involved with plenty of racing, entertainment and prizes!

The Benefits to your Team

• Up to three professional training sessions with Australia’s high achieving Brisbane River Dragons. This includes safety, paddling and fitness techniques on the Brisbane River in the weeks prior to the event.

When: 11th February 2012, commencing at 8.00am

Where: South Bank, on the Clem Jones Promenade in front of Street’s Beach

What to Bring:

• Dragon Boat Racing is a water sport. It is advisable to wear something that can get wet
• Bottle of water
• Hat and sunscreen are essential
• Paddles and life jackets are provided

Prizes:

• There will be random draw prizes for paddlers through out the day
• Trophies will be handed out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the final
• There are also prizes for the best team costume and best team chant

Cost:

• Corporate $1500 (sponsored by company or corporation)
• Community $1000 (individuals pay)

What is included in the Cost?

• Teams of up to 24 members (dragon boats hold 20 paddlers, a drummer and a sweep)
• Full training provided by Brisbane River Dragons (up to three sessions)
• Drummer and sweep (steers the boat) provided by Brisbane River Dragons
• All paddles and equipment
• Life jackets
• Insurance for each team member

Note:
All teams must provide team registration and all team members are required to sign the waiver. These are provided to you as part of the package.
