BRD is a club that encourages people of both sexes, all ages, and of all athletic ability to participate in healthy lifestyle activities. Dragon boating is a sport that can be enjoyed by everyone and all newcomers are welcome to join in at any of our sessions.
When you come along to one of our sessions on the Brisbane River wear something that you don’t mind getting wet – and perhaps something dry to change into. We will provide everything else, paddles, life jackets, and full instructions to help get you underway. You will need to sign in before taking to the water, notifying us if you are able to swim 100m, and life jackets are of course provided for further safety if required.
Suggested items to bring include:
- Water Bottle
- Running shoes
- Hat
- Sunscreen
An initial fee of $20 gives you a trial run for three sessions, which also covers the cost of insurance for this period.
After your 3 sessions it's time to become a member! If you wish to join after this trial period, the $20 is deducted from the annual fee, which is $250 ** for the year. The annual fee goes towards insurance, boat maintenance and repairs, coaching, and entry into most regattas.
