A solid training regatta over the weekend, where most people raced in 6- 12 500m races, then a nice solid 2000m hit out to finish off with.
According to Ewen, we're well positioned for our assault on States and Nationals, just need to lift our overall fitness level.
Certainly, the Premiers division is going to be the toughest this year, with TeWaka perfroming strongly in Open, Womens and Mixed - winning all three races. A big challenge for BRD.
With competitor numbers down in both Masters and Grand Masters, it was hard to gauge the level of competition going into States. The combined Redcliffe/Manly team gave Masters Mixed good competition in the final, whilsts our Grand Masters ladies, after losing the first two rounds to Currumbin, came back nicely to win the final by a nose - 0.25 secs - so game on for States!
The 2000m races saw two evenly selected BRD teams competing in the same heat. BRD MM came in fourth out of 11 teams, whilst BRD PM came in third - just 10 seconds ahead. Once again, TeWaka proved very strong, clearly winning the 2000m.
So results for the day.
- Premier Open - 2nd
- Premier Mixed - 3rd
- Masters Open - 1st
- Masters Mixed - 1st
- Masters Women - 2nd
- Grand Masters Women - 1st
- Grand Masters Mixed - 1st and 3rd
Good effort all round - bring on States and Nationals!!
